David Head ~ Guitarist

   I began playing guitar at the age of 5. Making a living playing music full-time in 1974 playing in rock, blues and original bands as well as jazz ensembles and solo guitar playing.  I have studied with classical guitarists Christopher Parkening, David Russell and Steven Novacek. Began as an instructor full-time at Bandwagon Music in Redmond in 1980 save for a hiatus in 1985/86 where I worked at Alex Music in New York City. Beginning in 2000 continued as full-time instructor at Mills Music in Redmond until 2015.
   2015 began at The Music Haven music studios where we offer lessons in a multitude of instruments.
​  My students are young kids, teens, adults and professionals from all walks of life.  Learn your favorite songs, reading music, ear training, music theory, songwriting and performance. Discover why many of the area's guitar teachers are my former students.

I have studied with renowned performer Christopher Parkening. Mr. Parkening himself a student of Segovia and current chair of the guitar department at Pepperdine University is known the world over for his many recordings and performances.

I studied privately with Steven Novacek & Gary Bissiri co-owners and founders of The Rosewood Guitar store when it was originally in The University District.
Steven was Head of the Guitar Department at both The University of Washington and Cornish College of the Arts at that time.

I also participated as a performer in a masterclass with David Russell

  Contemporary master of the classical guitar David Russell.  Originally from Scotland and raised on the Spanish Island of Majorca, Russell is twice winner of The Julian Bream Prize for Classical Guitar. He is known for his unparalleled technique and exquisite style of playing. He is a Fellow of The Royal Academy of Music in London.
